About PDO Thread Lifts – The procedure involving Polydioxanone (PDO) threads is a simple, nonsurgical, and minimally invasive procedure that provides a subtle lifting and tightening effect to the skin. By implanting the soluble synthetic monofilament fibers under the skin, the threads then dissolve gradually and stimulate the synthesis of collagen, fibroblasts and angiogenesis. As a result the skin becomes more smooth and radiant, wrinkles disappear, the face oval raises, “pores” are narrowed, sagging tissues are strengthened and so the skin lifting effect is achieved.
Threads can be used in most, if not all problematic areas that need tightening of the skin. Topical anesthetic, local anesthetic, and the use of Nitrous Oxide (if desired), make this procedure virtually painless. Depending on biological response, little down time may be warranted as well as the results achieved. The first effects are visible after 2-3 weeks, with considerable improvement after 2-3 months. Results commonly last up to 24 months or more with complete treatment. Like many other cosmetic procedures, additional treatments or touch-ups may be necessary to achieve optimal results. When PDO threads are used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, results may be prolonged.
